Hey everyone, I hope you are having a great week and are staying safe š
I canāt believe that itās already 2022. Last year was both a beautiful masterpiece and complete nightmare silmutaneously. I prefer to look at things with a glass half full appoach, because I find it makes life easier to get through. So I have hope that this year will be better, even if it’s just by a little bit. And even though 2021 was a bit rough, I had a lot of good moments and memories within it, such as time spent with friends and family, learning new skills and hobbies, and growing as a person and as a business. I got to share new things with you, such as poems, music, and new ways of creating content.
Now that it’s 2022, a lot of people -myself included- are thinking about what they’d like to do this year. Yeah I know we are halfway through January, but setting goals can be hard! I personally think that it’s better to set small goals, with bigger picture goals within your view. That’s why this year I’m doing something a bit different when it comes to goal setting, and I thought that I’d share it so that if you struggle with setting goals that feel achievable, you have something new you can try. I hope that this helps you with making 2022 a great year, so without further ado, let’s get right into it!

What Is This New Approach?
Well, I’m glad you asked.
First off, I have a few personal goals that I am focusing on. A few of these include working on my graphic novel (which I have an update to share with you guys soon), to grow my business, to spend more time with my friends and family, and to do things that make me feel good about myself and my life in general. I’m needing more positivity in my life, and I find the best way to do so is by surrounding myself with people who lift me up, doing the things that I enjoy, and focusing on the important things.
Although these are a bit open ended, I’m finding that the traditional method of goal setting isn’t working for me. I have a hard time reaching a goal that is super specific and detailed. So that’s why this year, I’m going about my goals in a different way. One of my favorite you tubers, Jess of @JashiiCorrin, has a system she uses to help her make the most of the year, which for this year is her “22 22s of 2022” I absolutely loved the idea, and thought it was a great way to approach making the most of the year, as well as keeping track of those bigger picture goals with smaller actions. Since I got the idea from Jess, I thought it would be awesome if she could explain it for us. It was so much fun getting to work with her on this, and she is both incredibly kind and talented. If you want some amazing ideas for using your bullet journal or planner, as well as some different ways to approach time management and making lists, you should definitely check out her channel.
Okay Jess, the floor is all yours!
Hi team! Jess / JashiiCorrin here with a 22 22s for 2022 breakdown! A lot of the time when we come towards the end of the year, my reflections bring me to this feeling of not having done āenoughā with the time I had, or feeling like the year just āgot away from meā. Iām sure some of you can relate, and having this feeling crop up pretty much every year without fail was starting to bother me. There were all these things that I knew I had wanted to do, like reading more books, watching more movies, having more social outings, but I always got to the end of the year feeling lacking.
In 2021, I decided to combat this problem by taking up a challenge Iād seen on Facebook; doing 21 things, 21 times, in the year of 2021. At first glance, that probably seems like a lot, I mean thatās 441 instances of doing something! But the real trick came into my approach towards this. I had two main things in mind when undertaking this challenge:
- The majority of the items should be small tasks, and
- The majority of the items should be āfunā
Small enjoyable things are the stuff that lift us up in the throws of everyday life.
In undertaking this challenge, I wanted to be able to look back on the year that was and know that Iād balanced my work commitments with things that actually āfill my cupā. Did I complete all 441 instances of doing things? Nope! But it was still enjoyable, and I certainly did more of the things on my list than I would have otherwise. Gamifying mini goals like this is a great way to keep us motivated, and recording your progress is an excellent way to hold yourself accountable.
Bringing us forward to 2022, the challenge of 21 21s became 22 22s. Itās obviously not necessary, but I do like the association between the numbers and the current year. Iāve again tried to keep the 22 tasks as smaller, easier and enjoyable items, but what I find enjoyable and easy may not be the case for you!
Below I list out my 22 items for the year ahead which you can use as inspiration for making a list of your own, but do make sure you tailor your list to suit you!
Jessās 22 22s in 2022
ā¢ 22 movies watch
ā¢ 22 documentaries watch
ā¢ 22 TV show seasons watched
ā¢ 22 games played
ā¢ 22 books read
ā¢ 22 Cricut projects
ā¢ 22 new foods tried
ā¢ 22 meat-free dinners
ā¢ 22 days without eating food out
ā¢ 22 days that I drink 2L of water
ā¢ 22 days that I do over 10,000 steps
ā¢ 22 kilos lost
ā¢ 22 restaurants tried
ā¢ 22 date nights / days
ā¢ 22 social outings attended
ā¢ 22 work-free days
ā¢ 22 blog posts written
ā¢ 22 non-the-week-the-was vlogs released
ā¢ 22 instances of putting $100 into my savings account
ā¢ 22 long term collections or just for fun bullet journal layouts
ā¢ 22 hair masks done
ā¢ 22 face masks done (the nice pampering kind, not the disease protection kind)

In setting up a page for my 22 22s in 2022, and being a sucker for a graph, I set this up as a 22 box by 22 box square in my journal, with my 22 tasks along the bottom, and the numbers 1 ā 22 up the side. As I complete one of the relevant tasks, I add dots above the label for that task to indicated how many times Iāve done that item. For example, if I have watched 5 movies, Iād have 5 dots (one per dot-grid box) above the āmovies watchedā label on my layout. Over time, with doing more instances of my 22 22s, this ends up looking like a bar graph made of stacked dots; the higher the dots are stacked, the more times Iāve completed that task.
My 22 22s Set Up Process
Now that you know what this approach is, let’s get into what my plan is for using it.
So like Jess, I wanted these items to be things that were fun and rewarding. I also want to challenge myself a bit and try new things, not resorting to my standard routine every time. That’s why for each item I’m recording the 22 DIFFERENT items under that category (trust me if I didn’t have this rule than “22 tv shows watched” would literally be Psych watched 22 times). I also made spreads in my happy planner to track these items. I did mine a bit differently, which took over 2 hours. I should’ve done a simple approach. If you want to do a spread, try Jess’s not mine.
Anyways, for my spreads I created a mini grid tracker with 22 squares each, with a list beside it to track each of the items under that category. So for tv shows watched, we have a grid tracker, with a numbered list to write out each of those shows. I absolutely love how this turned out, but next year I might do it differently. I ended up using eight pages for this, with four items on each page. Feel free to use these items to add to your list or try these spreads out yourself. If you do make sure to tag me so I can see them!
The Confused Craftgirl’s 22 22s In 2022:

- Listen to audiobooks
- Watch movies
- Create new drawings
- Cook New Recipes
- Dance sessions
- Create new playlists
- Watch TV shows
- Listen to vinyls
- Lego builds
- Starbucks/coffee runs

- Learn something new
- Create new products
- Make fan art
- Go out in nature

Now I know this may seem like a lot, but if I don’t complete all of them, that’s OKAY. The point is to challenge myself and make this year count. I hope that this was able to inspire you to try different things, and maybe add some of mine or Jess’s items to your list.
I can’t wait to get started on my 22 22s! I’ll share the outcome with you guys at the end of the year, and can’t wait to look back at the memories I’ve had.
