Hey everyone, it’s been a while! My life has been a series of perfect storms lately, with one setback after the other coming to get in the way of my epic plans. But things are finally calming down a bit, and I can get back to my regularly scheduled program.
My main focus as of late has been on the comic series. This has been a passion project of mine for over a decade now, and I’ve shared pieces of the world I am creating before on the website. But because I’m focusing on this project, I wanted to really let you in to this world of mine, and give you a tour of the districts, a first look at the Atlas training base, and a chance to talk with my characters. This is going to be a fun, interesting ride, so hopefully you enjoy this odd series.
Since this post is going to be the first in the series, I thought it’d be fitting to start off with the main character herself, Gwen Wilder.
“HOLD ON THERE!”
What is it now?
“You are NOT writing about Gwen for the thousandth time. It’s always about Gwen. Well tell me this, what has Gwen done that’s so special and important that she’s always the center of attention?!?”
She’s the main character, the story literally revolves around her.
“Well, I’m not letting you neglect the rest of us anymore, it’s time someone else got the spotlight for once!”
Fine Samantha, how about I start with you?
“Wait really?!? That’s so sweet of you! And I didn’t even have to ask you to do me first!”
Uh huh.
Well, I guess I’m writing about Samantha Wilder instead. Sigh, how do I write this without making her angry?

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE CHARACTER
Samantha is a complicated young woman, and is definitely one of my favorites to explore. When we meet Samantha, she’s seventeen, and is taking matters into her own hands. I love how feisty she is, and I think a lot of people will love her for her snarky, witty remarks.
Samantha Wilder is Gwen’s best friend and immediate cousin. Her and Gwen don’t always see eye to eye, but get along well. They’ve always got each others back, and work well together throughout their many battles. She’s a pivotal side character to Gwen’s arc-
“I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU WEREN’T WRITING ABOUT GWEN!!!”
I’m not writing about Gwen, I’m writing about you. But seeing as how she’s your best friend it’d be kind of hard not to mention her.
“Ugh, Fine. But why is it about her arc and not mine?”
Samantha I’m getting to it, okay? Calm down for a sec.
I swear she’s insane. Anyway, Samantha has an amazing character arc. There’s a lot of self discovery and growth throughout, which in turn helps others to grow and see the world in a different way than they did before. She grew up in The Caretaker Society, which is hyper-fixated on innocence, purity, and an idyllic community full of picture perfect families. There isn’t room for individuality, so if you don’t fit their mold, you’ll be forced into it.
Samantha learns this lesson the hard way, and after seeing the damage that was done to those she cares about, decides to take matters into her own hands.
But her arc doesn’t stop there, because she’s still at an interesting place when we meet her. She’s in that rogue phase, and Gwen is trying to get her to help in her quest for answers. AND BEFORE SHE SAYS ANYTHING, Samantha’s arc is directly tied to the main quest, and that’s what initiates her arc of self discovery.
She has some of the most fun interactions with the other characters, and her relationships are a bit of a mixed bag. I think that’s also a big part of what helps her to grow and mature into the woman she ends up becoming. But I’m getting a bit ahead of myself.
“Yeah, Tori, don’t give EVERYTHING away.”
*Proceeds to roll her eyes at the author

SAMANTHA’S RELATIONSHIPS
Speaking of her relationships, I would say that Samantha is involved in almost every other character’s arc. She does have people who she’s closer with, and so I thought we’d take a quick look at that.
GWEN WILDER
I have to mention her best friend and partner in crime. Her and Gwen are a great example of two women who support each other, even when they don’t see eye to eye. Samantha tends to be hot-headed and gets angry easily (some characters even refer to her as an angry little ball of rage), yet, she learns that she’s not always in the right, and to rely on others for help at times.
I also think her and Gwen just have a lot of fun together, and Gwen is one of those people who grounds Samantha and helps her to stay balanced.
“I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU WEREN’T GOING TO WRITE ABOUT GWEN!!!”
Samantha, I have to include your best friend in your article.
“Seriously?!? You are such a hypocrite!!! And what’s this nonsense about me needing to be ‘more balanced’ and ‘asking for help’? First you butcher my entire backstory, and now your describing me in the most inaccurate way posible. I am sitting RIGHT HERE, and know literally EVERYTHING. I’m done with this.”
*Shoves the writer out of her chair
“Hi everyone, I’m incredibly sorry that she’s been telling you guys false information about me. Like come on dude, get it right!”
SAMANTHA GET OUT OF MY CHAIR!
“Anyways, here’s what really happened.”
Samantha I ALREADY told them your backstory, and it is the truth. Stop touching my laptop!
*Proceeds to kick the writer out of her office until she has finished rewriting the entire post
*Writer storms back into the room to at least explain to the utterly confused reader what the heck is actually going on here
At least let me explain what’s happening, okay?
“Ugh, fine.”
I’m tired of fighting her on this, because sometimes your characters just don’t want to behave. So instead of debating this, I’m just going to let Samantha take it from here. Anyways, hope her ramblings make sense.
Okay Samantha, the floor is all yours. Let me know when you’re done so I can edit the post.
“Thanks Tori!”

FINE, I’LL TALK ABOUT MY FRIENDS FIRST
Hi guys, I’m Samantha, and I’m literally THE BEST. The best at what? Oh, just EVERYTHING! Yeah, I rock. Okay, so I guess I should say a little bit about my friends and family, but this is MY post, so only a little bit.
“That’d be nice.”
Well now you’re making me NOT want to do it. Ugh, fine, I’ll still do it, because you do deserve to know the people I deem worthy of considering friends and close family. Here you go:
Gwen Wilder.
John Wilder.
He’s my cousin too, and also kind of my boss. John’s easy to trigger and have fun with, and pays his employees well. I mess with him A LOT, and yet he won’t fire me (probably because I’m the best at what i do and am irreplaceable). But I honestly respect him a lot, and know he will always be honest with me. He’s pretty awesome in his own right.
“Aw, that’s so sweet, Samantha!“
You’re going to edit that out, right?
“Nope!”
You know what, that’s fair. I did push you out of your chair. I didn’t realize ENFPs could be trolls too.
*Tori gives off a menacing stare.
Anyways, back to the list…
Bridget Bishop.
Bridget’s probably one of my closest friends, even though most people seem to hate her guts. But she’s a really good person if you take the time to get to know her. She’s a fellow troll, and we have fun together. We don’t get to see each other as often as we’d like, but we’ve always got each others backs and will always support each other.
“I agree. She’s misunderstood, and a great human underneath all the scars she has.”
“TORI THIS ISN’T BRIDGET’S POST OKAY?!?
Ugh, anyways… I think that’s about it.
“Samantha you have more friends than that.”
Yeah but this isn’t about them, it’s about me.
“Alright, then tell the readers about YOU.”

ALL ABOUT THE G.O.A.T. HERSELF
Well now that that’s out of the way, I can tell you about the greatest character to ever exist!
*Author proceeds to slowly roll her eyes
She knows I’m the best. Anyways, I’m Samantha, and here’s my story.
I was born and raised in The Caretaker Society, a place that I have conflicting feelings about. I have some good memories there, with friends and family who are still living there. I always had a bad feeling about the place, like something wasn’t right. This place was too perfect, too nice. So I went looking for proof, and of course, I found it.
I can’t look at the place I used to call a home without a deep seething anger at what really happens to keep the place that way.
I couldn’t sit by and do nothing. They knew what they did, and I could prove it. I knew my uncle kept records of what happened to him and my dad; proof of the suffering they endured simply for just existing. et But they know one day it’d get better, and so they kept the receipts. Smart guys.
I asked him where my Uncle’s journals were, and even though he was hesitant at first, he gave me the box full of his old stuff. I started sorting through the box, and found my Uncle’s old camcorder. He always joked that he recorded every second of their lives on this thing. If anything had info, that would be it, right?
I boot it up, and before I can even start watching the footage, i feel this intense shock in my body and black out. I wake up with the worst headache I’ve ever had, and the camcorder completely busted. I thought I’d lost all of that intel, since there wasn’t a backup.
But being the GOAT I am, I didn’t need it. The data wasn’t in the camcorder, but it was in me. My skin felt like it was on flames, but I’ve always been a bit of a pyromaniac. In fact, the pain from the burning sensation wasn’t bad, it was fuel. I can use that, even channel it, to help me take down the monsters who have been hurting the people I care about.
And I’m only seventeen, so add that to the list of reasons why I’m awesome and highly skilled.
but I won’t give anything else away, you have to read the story (IF SHE EVER FINISHES IT) to find out what happens next.
“I’M GOIING TO FINISH IT!!!”
Says the girl who’s been working on this for over a decade. Anyways, I’m getting bored of this and want to go do something fun now, so bye!!!

OKAY SO I’M WRITING THE POST AGAIN…
*Samantha leaves the room to go bug John, leaving the author to pick up where she left off
Seriously?!? She made such a big deal about telling the story herself, only to just leave. Honestly I’m not even shocked. Where did she leave off?
*Samantha comes back into the room
“UGH JOHN ISN’T EVEN HERE!!! NO ONE’S HERE!!!”
*Tori nervously tries to think of a character that is available to distract her, only to realize she is busy working on the arcs that don’t include Samantha
I’m stuck with you for now, aren’t I?
“YEAH… I really just want to bug John though. Are you still writing this post? How do you manage to take this long on one thing? Don’t you get bored?”
Honestly yeah. I’m always thinking of new things. But if I really want to make an income writing, i have to post and create content, even if it takes me a while to do so.
“You know what? I respect the dedication. But the post is getting REALLY long. OOH LET’S DO A RAPID FIRE SECTION!!! FAST FACTS ABOUT THE G.O.A.T. or whatever you want to call it.”
I like that idea, so let’s do it!
Fast facts about Samantha
- She’s an ENTP. Some other ENTPs include Tony Stark, Deadpool, Daisy Johnson, Felicity Smoak, and MatPat.
- Her weapon of choice is a flaming dagger she made out of data fragments.
- Her favorite bands are Fall Out Boy, The Raconteurs, and Talking Heads.
- She loves pulling pranks and messing with her friends.
- She has a strong sense of justice, and hates seeing people being taken advantage of or manipulated.
- She’s fiercely loyal to the people she cares about, and would stop at nothing to protect them.
- Her youtube subscriptions include all four Theorists channels, Dear Kristin, and Steven He, because she loves his comedy.
- She may love to mess with her friends, but she also knows all of their favorite things and what makes them feel better on a rough day.
- She loves candy, especially gummy bears and jolly ranchers.
- She loves collecting strange things she finds in her travels, mainly sticks, weirdly shaped rocks, and random scraps of paper.
I like the goblincore energy you’re bringing here with that collection.
“I LOVE GOBLINCORE!!! I just wish it had more fire and red colors to it.”
Maybe we can come up with our own new aesthetic. Maybe the readers have some ideas?
“Maybe. Are you almost done?!?”
Yeah, I think that’s where I’m going to leave it for now. I hope you enjoyed this strange, yet incredibly fun to write post all about Samantha, how she got her red energy, and some facts about her. I’m planning on doing one of these for each character, so hopefully you like it, because I’m doing it even if you don’t lol.
If you want more of Samantha and the rest of the crew, you can follow me on social media, or if you want exclusive content, updates, and more, why not check out my Ko-Fi page? It’s my favorite place to post, and is also a way you can support me and the creation of the comic series!
Oh and what should we call this new aesthetic? Or does it already exist? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time 🙂
