Hi I’m Tori, the creative mind behind Stories From A Cafe. This site is exactly that- a place filled with stories and tips on how to write them.
We all have a story to tell, wether it be our life story, a fictional world we have created, or emotions we need to convey. It starts with an idea, or multiple ideas, and a rough plan may start to form. But often, you begin with absolutely no idea where to start. I’ve been there, and it’s a struggle. Figuring it out shouldn’t have to be difficult, and you should be able to have fun in the process.
I’m sharing my tips and tricks so that you don’t have to wonder where to start.
This includes tips on specific areas of storytelling, specific productivity hacks, where to find resources for a specific area, as well as specific examples to reference for specific parts of writing.
Did you just cringe while reading that sentence? Good.
When I began writing the series, I had no idea where to begin. I did countless hours of research, searching for the answers to all of the questions I had about writing. But no matter how hard I looked, I never found an answer that was specific. The tips were either over generalized or the same steps repeated.
Eventually, I found what I needed. But I would have saved so much time and frustration if I had an outright answer. And now that I have some knowledge on the process, I want to share the answers that I so desperately tried to search for. I want to be as specific as possible, while also giving helpful suggestions, and sharing the general advice so that you have it as well.

A Little About Me
I started my writing journey when I was thirteen by writing poems. Poetry was a way for me to express my feelings, and communicate what I was thinking. I then began learning to play the guitar, which led me to start writing songs. I always loved the way songwriters could tell a story through their music, and so I started to do the same.
After some time, I started creating my own characters. I had a rich inner world, and so I decided to let those stories and characters come out on the page. It’s taken me time to figure out the story I wanted to tell, and how I wanted to tell it. And now that I have, I’ve been working on this passion project of mine, and will continue to keep you updated on the progress of those stories.
Five Fun Facts About Me:
- I have a slight coffee addiction
- My MBTI type is ENFP
- I’m a huge nerd and love Marvel, Star Trek, and Star Wars
- I love to play video games- especially Animal Crossing, LEGO games, and Sonic
- I’m obsessed with etymology (the study of words)
