Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a great day and are staying positive š I know it can be hard to do so, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
A lot of people are having to cancel their summer plans or rethink what they are going to do this summer. It’s not the most ideal situation, but it’s just what it is. You may be bored and wondering what you are going to do now that your situation has changed. Well, there’s still a lot you can do! So I wanted to share with you ten ideas on how you can spend this summer. That way you can repeat the great philosopher Phineas Flynn’s iconic words: “Hey, Ferb! I know what we’re going to do today!”

1. Recreate some of your vacation plans
Even though you can’t physically go on that trip to Europe, or relax in the Caribbean, or whatever other plan you may have had, you can recreate aspects of that trip at home. It’s going to take some creativity and planning, but it can be done. I love watching the videos of the families who recreated their Disney World and DisneyLand trips at home. So you can make your own Louvre at home, or go outside and lay in the sun with a Pina Colada. Or you can recreate your own mini Street Market. Or make an Italian meal at home. The possibilities are endless. Just think, What Would Phineas and Ferb do?

2. Host a Zoom party
This is something that me and my family do a lot of. One of our favorite things is to play Jackbox games with our friends and family. It’s hilarious to see what they will put as answers. And it’s just nice to see everyone and hang out. You could also have a theme to your party, or even do a zoom scavenger hunt, where you have to find things from around your house. There are so many different options for hosting a virtual party, and it’s been fun exploring some of them. This is even a great idea for if you had a party planned, maybe you can find a way to do it over zoom.

3. Learn a new skill
You’re going to have some time to dedicate to it, so why not start? Maybe you want to learn to play an instrument, have always wanted to learn how to code, or just want to brush up on your math and grammar skills… I mean you do you if you actively enjoy doing math. Take the time to learn it! Sites like Skillshare and KhanAcademy are great resources, and you can also find plenty of videos on YouTube. I’ve personally been learning more about cooking, gardening, and digital lettering. I’ve also been really interested in etymology recently, and have enjoyed learning how certain words and phrases came to be. So take the time to learn something new.

4. Learn a new language
While you’re at it, why not learn a new language? I’m still working on learning French, and it’s a challenge, but a fun one. So take the time to learn it. I personally love using DuoLingo as well as YouTube and Pinterest for finding resources. Maybe you want to try learning French. Or maybe you’re really cool and want to learn Klingon. I recommend learning Klingon, but for now I’ll be focusing on French. But I still want to eventually learn Klingon so I can become as cool as Chuck Bartowski.

5. Play your favorite video game
There are so many good games out there, and they can help cure some of that boredom. My personal favorites are Animal Crossing, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, and Lego Avengers. I like games that offer an open world, which is why I love the newer Lego games. I’m also one of those people who has to unlock every achievement and get 100%. Just remember to not let it completely consume your time. Be sure to go outside, get some exercise, and do something creative off screen. But at the same time, don’t neglect your town for too long or it will be overrun with weeds and your villagers will hate you. Yeah, that’s happened way too many times…

6. Do a 30 day challenge
Doing a 30 day challenge is a great way to improve your skills or learn something new. I’m currently doing a 30 day character writing challenge for my OC Gwen, and it’s been interesting to see where some of the prompts have taken me. There are all sorts of different challenges to try, such as photography challenges, drawing challenges, writing and journalling challenges, you name it. It’s a great way to get the ideas flowing, and the results can be fantastic.

8. Make Summer recipes
There are a lot of recipes tailor made for summer, so why not give them a try? Maybe you’ve always wanted to try and make homemade ice cream. Or you want to create the perfect picnic basket, and want to make all the dishes yourself. Or you love hamburgers and coleslaw. Go to Pinterest, google, or your favorite recipe app and look for some ideas on how to make them. Then get those ingredients and start cooking!

9. Have a movie night
There are so many amazing movies out there to choose from, and it’s fun to make watching a movie into an event. Here are a few of my favorites. Make sure you have all the essentials- snacks, your favorite drink, a cozy blanket- and then press play. I’ve even seen where people will zoom and watch a movie together. I have problems with lag, so I’m not sure how well that would work, but it’s a neat idea if you want to try it. I prefer to watch movies alone, because I enjoy singing all of the songs (I’m talking about you, Frozen), mercilessly criticizing the heroes actions (Iron Man can be a jerk sometimes, but we love him), or telling the characters what they should be doing instead (Padme really should’ve just ran as fast as she could). So enjoy your movie night the way you enjoy watching films. For me that’s just being obnoxious and eating a crap ton of popcorn while I sit in my bed with my cozy blanket.

10. Make some diy crafts and projects
There are so many different DIYs and crafts out there to make, and you don’t necessarily have to be super skilled to do them. Make a collage, or start a junk journal. Bookmarks are always super fun and easy, and they make great gifts. Make a bunch of cards to send out. Or try making a happy mail package to send. There are so many different projects and ideas to try. Youtube and Pinterest are great places to find ideas. I also did a post on a mixed media spread I made, so if you want to try and make your own, here’s the post.
Bonus: Redecorate your room with some diy room decor
Another great idea if you want a bit of a refresh in your space. Yet again, there are so many ideas out there.
I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope you have an amazing and fantastic summer! Let me know in the comments if you tried any of these suggestions, and how you are planning on spending your summer.
Until next time š
