Hey everyone, I hope you are doing well and are staying safe.
If you couldn’t tell by now, spring is my favorite season. There’s something about spring that always makes me feel better. I think that part of that reason is because spring is all about growth and rebirth, which has been a major theme in my life. But I also think that it has to do with the fact that spring means sunny skys, longer days, and beautiful weather. It’s also when the flowers come to life and when the fashion and art we see is full of pretty pastels.
However, this spring might look a little different than previous ones, since we are having to social distance and stay home as much as we can. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy the spring weather and make this season just as good as it was before. So with that being said, I wanted to share some ideas on fun things you can do this spring. I have ideas for sunny and rainy weather. I hope you enjoy the list!

Have A Movie Night
If you’re like me, you actually prefer watching movies at home on your couch than going out to the theater. So go all out and make it an event. Rent or stream your favorite movie, get in your favorite pair of pjs, make your favorite movie snacks- for me that’s buttery popcorn and reeses pieces-, get under a comfy blanket, and have fun. And what’s even more amazing about watching a movie at home is that you can belt out the songs, make fun of the plot, and yell at the characters without any complaints. You also don’t have to deal with others talking at the wrong times, singing the wrong lyrics, etc. You can watch a movie that way that you like to. But if you’re someone who likes to have a group of friends, than there are also options for that using zoom. I did a post on some of my favorite movies in case you need some suggestions on what to watch:

Cook A New Recipe
Each season has it’s own unique set of flavors, dishes, and seasonal produce. With spring, there are lighter flavors, more fruits, and cooler dishes. Plus it’s a lot of fun to test your skills in the kitchen. I always like to pretend that I’m showcasing my final dish on chopped, and then judging my own dish because. well, I’m the only one eating it. I recently made chicken fajita tacos with homemade pico de Gallo, and it was fantastic! And it’s always rewarding to see the product of all that hard work.

Have A Zoom Game Night
This is one of my favorite ways to stay in touch with friends and family, and there are so many different options for games to play. (Quick note: this isn’t sponsored, I just really love this service and recommend it. Back to post). Our favorite thing to do is play Jackbox games, because it offers a nice variety and allows for at least six players each game. There are several different games that they offer in each party pack. Some of my favorites include Quiplash, Bidiots, Split The Room, and Patently Stupid. What’s nice about these packs is that only one person has to purchase it for the whole group to play. And if you get it off of the App Store, you can use family sharing with them. It’s a great way to get everyone together, have a laugh, and really get to know your friends.

Make Happy Mail Or Gifts For Friends and Family
Not only is this a great way to spend a rainy day, but is also a great way to stay in touch with your friends and family. Nothing beats the feeling of when you open your mailbox to find a letter or a card from someone amongst all of the bills and junk mail. And that’s one of the reasons why I love making it, because doing something kind for someone else always ends up making you feel better. And it’s such a fun process creating it! I have two posts that I’ve done on this topic so far, with more to come in the future:

Start A Garden
Me and my mom started an herb garden last spring. It’s a nice way to feel responsible for something and to connect with nature. You also get outside a bit and are able to enjoy that spring weather. I found that keeping an herb garden alive is much easier than doing so with succulents or house plants. We keep out herbs out on our deck, and tend to get a lot of rain in spring. Plus keeping an herb garden means having fresh herbs to use when you try out those new recipes. But you don’t have to start an herb garden specifically, it can be any kind you want it to be!

Go To A Local Coffee Shop Or A Nearby Starbucks
Going to a coffee shop of any kind is a great way to get out of the house. Thankfully we are able to do that here, and if that’s the case where you are, then I definitely recommend doing it. I think we’ve all gotten a bit stir crazy, and let’s be honest, is there ever a BAD time to get coffee? Just make sure that you practice social distancing and stay safe when you do so! And I recommend sitting outside if you can. Not only does it take away some of the stress, but is also a great way to get outside for a bit.

Walk Down A Nature Trail
Like I mentioned before, spring is when flowers and creatures of all kinds come back to life. I think the best way to see all of that is to take a walk down a nearby nature trail. It’s a way of going on a grand adventure without having to travel that far. And if there isn’t a nature trail near you, you can still experience the beautiful spring scenery in your neighborhood. I’ve found that some of my favorite florals I’ve photographed have come from walking around my neighborhood. Make sure to take some water with you, and of course, a camera.

Eat Outside
Getting some sun and out of the house can be as simple as taking your meal outside. You could eat out on your balcony, on your back porch, or if you’re feeling a bit extra, out in the backyard picnic style. I’ve been wanting to do a picnic in our backyard for a while now, so if I try it, I’ll let you know how it goes! But even if you just take your morning coffee out on the back deck, it’s still going to be a great experience.

Redecorate Your Room
For most people, spring also means spring cleaning. So once you’ve gotten past all of the hard work of cleaning and organizing, why not change the design up a bit? It could be as simple as changing your bedding or swapping out a picture frame, making some cool decor to add to your room, or rearranging every piece of furniture in your office and/or bedroom by yourself because you were bored and didn’t know what else to do… Or is that last one just me? Anyways, here are some ideas on what you could do to redecorate:

Drive By A Friend’s House
I know that a lot of us are feeling a bit lonely due to not being able to be with others in person. And there are definitely ways that we can still keep in touch, technology does have it’s pros at times. But sometimes it’s nice to see someone’s face. So if you have any family or friends who live nearby, why not drive by their house and say hello? Or maybe you need to drop something off, why not take a minute to say hey as well? This has been a really helpful way to stay connected with others while also staying safe and respecting others, and our own, wellbeing. If you have friends or family nearby, I definitely recommend doing it. It’ll put a smile on your face and your friends as well.
I hope you enjoyed the post and found some of these ideas to be helpful! I know I’m definitely going to do some of these myself.
