Hey everyone, hope you are doing well and are staying safe.
Sometimes, we just don’t feel great. The world can seem like too much to deal with, we have a million things on our plate, or we feel as if we’re fighting an uphill battle. It can be hard facing life’s problems, and sometimes, we just need a little boost to get through it. For me, that boost comes in several forms, one of them being music.
When I’m having a rough day, and need an extra confident boost, I put on my favorite songs and dance and sing until I feel better. Music has always been one way for me to get through the day, and I have a whole playlist for songs that make me feel confident.
Music can be a powerful tool, and I’ve found some amazing songs that always seem to get me pumped up and ready for anything. So I thought I’d share some of those songs with you! I have ten that I’m going to share with you, and then I’ll show you how you can make your own confidence boosting playlist. Let’s get into the post!

Songs to boost confidence
Remix (I Like The)- New Kids On The Block
This is such a great song to make you feel good about yourself. The whole song is about how they like the “new version” of this girl, when really it’s just the fact that she is more confident and self accepting. Whenever I hear this song, I think of the music video, and the fact that the girl is a plus size, curly haired woman. There’s a really cool scene of her dancing with Donny Walhberg, and I love that they show that every body type is beautiful. A great confidence booster for sure.
Shake It Out- Florence And The Machine
This is one of those songs that you belt out- it’s all or nothing when you’re singing it. The message is that in order to move forward, you just gotta shake out all of the problems, and decide to start anew. It’s one of those anthemic songs that could be played in the movie as the team approaches the final battle. So if you want to get fired up, this is your song.
ME!- Taylor Swift (feat. Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco)
I know that this song is either loved or hated, but it’s a great song showcasing self love and just being happy. In fact, Taylor Swift wrote the song so that it would get that message in your head, that you are awesome and amazing. Having the words “I promise that you’ll never find another like me” in your head throughout the day is a helpful reminder that even if you have those low moments, you’re the only one of you, and that you matter. It’s one of my favorites off of the Lover album, and think it deserves more love overall. Especially since Brendon Urie is on it, I mean, how can you not love this song?
Put Your Records On- Corinne Bailey Rae
A more chill version of a self love song, this one is all about not caring what others think about you. I think this song is absolutely flawless as a whole, and cannot be improved upon. It’s actually a song that I wish that I had written myself, because everything about it- the melodies, the lyrics, the instrumentation- is absolutely perfect in my book. And the message is great as well.
Don’t Stop Me Now- Queen
Ah, Queen. I don’t think there will ever be a frontman like Freddie Mercury, and how they were able to switch genres so seemlessly. This has to be one of my favorites that fits in their more “pop” songs. You can’t not feel more energetic after this song, because it’s a non-stop burst of full throttle energy. It’s even better when you look up the Lip Sync Battle on Jimmy Fallon with Paul Rudd where he did this song. Paul Rudd singing Don’t Stop Me Now is permanently engraved in my mind, and honestly, I don’t mind that at all. It’s a great song to get you hyped up and boost your energy.
Sue Me- Sabrina Carpenter
“That’s my name, don’t wear it out now” is probably one of my favorite lyrics. This song is all about how you shouldn’t care if others don’t like you, and instead, just be yourself. It oozes with confidence and has some amazing lyrics, including the one above, and my other favorite: “I guess I’m hard to ignore, pick up that jaw off the floor.”
Look At Her Now- Selena Gomez
I had to put at least one song off of rare on here, and let me tell you, it was hard to just pick one. This is one of my all time favorite albums I even did a review of it. This song stood out to me for this list, however. Because we all grow, and we get to that point where we can see where we were and how far we’ve come. And it’s also a great song to dance to.
What I Thought About Selena Gomez’s Album Rare
Thunder- Imagine Dragons
Who else is excited for their new album to come out? Anyways, I had to include this song, especially since it’s one of my “no skip songs”. From the actual thunder noises in the song, to the catchy chorus, to Dan’s vocal riff solo, it’s just a timeless song. It also has one of my favorite lyrics: “Now I’m smiling from the stage while you were clapping from the nosebleeds”. Love to hear how far you guys have come, and am looking forward to what you do next.
Gunpowder And Lead- Miranda Lambert
The ultimate empowerment song in my humble opinion. It’s one of those you just instantly have to sing along to. It’s a little different thematically from the other songs on this list, but I still always feel energized and ready to take on the world after I listen to it. It has the vibes of No Body No Crime, just more peppy and taking no crap from no one.
Unbreakable Smile- Tori Kelly
I really love Tori Kelly in general, because she’s a curly haired, curvy girl who share’s yours truly’s first name. Once I discovered her, I actually began to feel more confident in myself in general, because this was a woman, in music, who had my name and body type. And this is one of the many songs she has that just make you feel good about yourself. But I think this one stands out because life can get hard. But if you keep your head high and keep a positive attitude, you’ll be alright.

How to make your own confidence boosting playlist
I also wanted to share with you guys some tips on how to make your own confidence boosting playlist. I’ve done posts on making playlists before, and those tips can also be applied here. I’ll link those below:
When making a playlist for boosting your confidence and making you feel empowered, you want to keep in mind that it’s purpose is just that: to boost your confidence. So here are a few tips to help you out:
- Pay attention to what songs make you feel confident. This will be different for everyone. A song can make you feel empowered and confident without being about said topics. Maybe love songs get you pumped, or heavy beats. Whatever gets you in that mood.
- Think about how you are going to use this playlist. For example, is this a playlist you want to play at the end of a long day to help you feel better? Is it the songs you play when you wake up in the morning to help you get ready for the day? Or are these the songs you play while you are working, exercising, or tackling chores?
- Length and format matter. Do you want it to be a short playlist that you play from beginning to end? Or do you want to be able to put it on shuffle and let it play whatever comes next? For the first one, I recommmend doing twenty to thirty songs, that way you can get a nice variety, and can still hear almost every song. And for the longer ones, just go to town adding every song you want.
- Have fun with it! This is YOUR playlist, YOUR confidence boost, so make it work for you. It can be as long or short as you like, span several genres if you want it to, and feature slower songs as well. Whatever makes you feel more confident, that’s what you should add.
