Not too long ago, me and my mom took a trip down to Atlanta, Georgia to see my brother. We did a lot of cool things while we were down there. I thought I’d do a few posts on my trip, and share some of the tips to keep in mind for each spot.
First stop, Ikea!
For starters, it wasn’t what I was expecting.
I was thinking it might be the size of a BJs, or at the most, a Home Depot. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Not only is it huge, but it’s two stories. I still haven’t seen all of it, that’s how big it is.
I had also heard that they have models of how to use the items they sell. My friend had described it as mini apartments. I kind of half expected that there would be such a thing, but yet again, I was wrong. They have little apartments throughout the store. It’s amazing. I now have way too many ideas for my future apartment, tiny house, or whatever living space I end up with.
Some of the ideas I found throughout the store
I thought I’d share some of the ideas that I found throughout the store, and what I love about each area. I hate it though, because I forgot to take pictures of some of my favorite areas. But I love some of the ideas in these spaces.

I love the ideas in this crafting/art room! First, the table in the middle is big enough to work on multiple projects at once. I love how they used the pegboard to store supplies, and I like the bags secured to it as well. I also like the idea of housing pens, pencils, etc. in a cart. It makes it easy to keep them all together, and it’s on wheels, so you can move it closer to where you are working. I’ll definitely be using these ideas in my future studio!

I’ve always loved square bookshelves. I think that they are easier to use and keep organized. I like how they used different containers for storage- the bins, magazine holders, and burlap- and that not every square inch of the shelving has to be used. I also like the picture frames in some of the cubbies. I also think it’d be cool to put a shadowbox in a cubby.

There are so many things I love about this space. Although it’s bigger than I’d like my kitchen, there are so many great ideas to take from this space. I like that the space can be both minimal and colorful at the same time. The pendant light is amazing, and I love the table runner. I also love the curtain above the window, it’s so bright and fun! I think having the bulletin boards in the kitchen is a great idea. You could use it for so many things- recipe ideas, pictures, grocery lists, conversion charts. I’m definitely stealing that idea for the future. I also love the mini herb garden and step stool next to the open cabinets. And the bright blue plates are so pretty!

This kitchen space was one of my favorites. I love the size, layout, and the way they make such a small space seem roomy. One of my favorite things is the table, because it’s small enough to fit in this space, but can be expanded if needed. There’s a mini herb garden in this space as well, and the mugs above the table are perfect. Another thing that I loved was the sink space. One thing I always forget is to wash the veggies and fruit right when I get home. I love the idea of having a strainer at the sink, because it takes less time than searching for a strainer for twenty minutes.

This bedding is so cool! I love the bohemian vibes of this space. I also love the idea of having the sconce lights above the bed- I do so much of my writing in bed, so the idea of having the sconces would be great. I would personally like more color in the bedding, maybe some pastels. But the patterns are beautiful. I also love the idea of using that same cart as before but as a nightstand, and the rug is a nice touch.
Some tips for when you visit IKEA
So those are some of the highlights from my visit to IKEA. There were still parts of the store I didn’t get to see, and I can’t wait to go back and see those areas.
There were a few things I learned from this visit too. One, the items are not assembled, but you can pay a fee for them to assemble it for you. I personally think it’s worth the money, because assembling furniture can be tricky. Another thing, the furniture is kept in a large storage area, and you have to find each item you are looking for. It’s a large store, and it can get tiring after a while. I think it would be smart to order it online, and either pick it up in store or get it delivered. I think it’s great to get an idea of how to use each item and the names of them. Then you can go to the IKEA website and order what you found in the store.
I loved my first IKEA trip, and can’t wait to go back again soon! Have you guys been to IKEA? If so, what is your favorite thing about it?
Stay tuned for more about my Atlanta trip!
Until next time š
