I think out all the spaces in my room, my favorite is my desk. It’s funny because no one ever sees me using it, especially since these days my room is either a sauna or a tundra. But that is far from the truth, I love my desk and I love creating at it.
There are so many things I love about it, so I thought I’d share a list of some of my favorite items in my desk.
I think having a fun and inviting space to work at is important. Yes, it helps having a neat and tidy space to work at. But for me, it also has to have some personality to it, or else I get bored and never use it. Hopefully this list can inspire you to add some color and personality to your space too!
Pop Figures
So, I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before, but I’m a HUGE GEEK. I happen to love Marvel, am a huge Trekkie (insert live long and prosper sign here), love The Clone Wars, Chuck, Sherlock, as well as MANY other things. Yeah, I’m definitely a fangirl.
I think it’s cool to have something of that in my creative space, especially since a lot of my inspiration and love of stories comes from these shows/movies/books and how they develop things. So for me, I show that with pop figures.
I have so many at the moment. I don’t display them all at once, which to me is kind of fun because then I get a chance to redo the decor a bit. At the moment, I’m currently displaying Sydney Bristow with the red hair from ALIAS, Ahsoka Tano from Clone Wars, Spiderman in the homemade suit from Homecoming, Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, and John Watson and Sherlock Holmes (in the deerstalker hat) from BBC’S Sherlock.

Every Day is Epic- A Daily Journal
This is the coolest thing ever. My mom and I found it in Barnes and Noble. Even though I haven’t worked in it a ton yet, I love it. I’ve always been bad about keeping up with a journal. This ones awesome though. You rank each day on a scale of how epic the day was. There’s some space to write about the day’s events. But the rest of the spread is different on each page. It can range from a ranting space, a gratitude list, a playlist space, and so much more. I just love it so much. Now to start using it again.

I’m Kind of Awesome Journal
I love these journals. They have different variations of the same concept, which includes quotes from famous people relating to the theme of the journal. In this case, being the awesome person you are and not caring what others say about it. Pretty much I got it because of the AMAZING quotes, but the journal aspect of it is cool too. There’s space to write why you are awesome today, which I think can be really powerful on a rough day. Then you rank it on a scale from A+ to B-. Pretty awesome right?

The Doggist
Okay so another fun fact about me: I love dogs. And I when I say that, I mean I LOVE dogs, they just make me happy. It is true, dogs are a girls best friend. I just think it’s amazing how much unconditional love they give, that they literally just want you to be happy, and get excited over the smallest things.
So I found this book at Anthropologie. It’s a book. Full of dogs. And I love it.

My Globe
So on that same day at Anthropologie, I found this globe. I don’t know why, but I’ve always wanted a globe. I think it’s the idea of it, being able to see the whole world at once, being able to see a future destination. Plus they just look awesome. No desk is complete without a globe.
My Pens
My favorite medium to use for art is ink. I love pens, markers, and blending ink. So it would make sense that one of my favorite things in my desk would be my pen collection.
Brush pens are my favorite, because you get the feel of a paintbrush but with the benefit of still holding a pen. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I started sketching again. Yep, that’s all markers and ink and some pencil details. Still shocked that the paper is intact.
A Purple Painting Purchased in Chelsea Market, NY
There’s this really cool craft market in New York, called Chelsea Market. It’s indoors and tends to have some really awesome stuff inside. The last time I went there was a really cool artist selling her paintings. Unfortunately I can’t remember her name, but I had to get one of her paintings. I loved her art style, because it was simple, but still able to convey so much emotion. My older brother was on that trip with us, and noticed I wanted one. He ended up paying for it 🙂 which is part of the reason it’s so special to me. Not only is it a beautiful painting with so much beauty, but it was given to me by someone who loves me, and it was a part of an amazing trip with my family.
My Big Box Of Cards
I love mail. Both sending it and receiving it. I tend to keep most of the mail I receive, and I keep it in a special box that was given to me by a dear friend of mine. There are so many amazing cards in there, with beautiful sentiments from people who love me. Definitely a reason for it to be one of my favorite things in my desk.
Calvin And Hobbes Comic Book
When I was little, my dad would always read or tell me a story before bed. That included either Winnie the Pooh, which he would read in the voices, a retelling of which I thought was an original superhero story, but later learned was an episode of Justice League the Animated Series, or Calvin and Hobbes comics.
Bill Waterson was a genius. Not only are these comics hilarious, but they are also insightful. Some of them talk about very abstract concepts of life, such as purpose and growing older. There are so many amazing stories. One of my favorite ones is when Calvin and Hobbes form their club G.R.O.S.S. but end up fighting over who the leader should be. So Hobbes decides to leave and starts hanging out with Susie. Also when Calvin clones himself. Or the iconic “Bats aren’t bugs!”
A Wooden Pen
Another thing I have always wanted- a wooden pen. When we were in Williamsburg, my younger brother found one. It has my name on it. I just think that it’s cool that he remembered that I had really wanted one. It also happens to write well.
So there you have it! Ten things that give my desk a personality of it’s own. I hope that you were able to draw some inspiration from this post for your space.
Until next time 🙂
